Bernie is a black comedy that is based on a true story that happened in a small town in Texas. Bernie is an assistant funeral director who goes above and beyond to comfort the families of the lost ones. The widows in the town loves him especially with the extra attention he gives them. Bernie befriends a lonely wealthy widow who is hated by most of the people in town. Things take a wrong turn after she starts to treat him badly until he snaps.
Black Jack gives a superb performance in this movie and proves that he is indeed an amazing actor if given the chance. Shirley Maclaine plays one of her best solid roles in years. The big surprise in this movie was Matthew McConaughey. He gives his performance in his movie career and I have to say that I never expected him to give such a brilliant performance. In my opinion, both Jack Black and McConaghey deserves an Oscar nod or at least a Golden Globe nomination. A great movie with a very funny dark humer and crazy true story. One of this year’s top films.
