Jiro Dreams of Sushi i a documentary about Jiro Ono, a famous 85 years old 3-star michelin sushi master who owns a restaurant in the basement of a subway station in Tokyo where people need to make reservations months in advance to get a chance to eat there. That film focuses on different things and takes different directions which might be confusing a bit but still it works out fine at the end. Parts of the documentary follows the apprentices of Jiro and their goal of mastering the art of sushi making under his guidence.
Other parts follow Jiro’s process of chosing the best ingredients and his determination of perfecting his technique even at the age of 85. It also sheds some light on his sons who follow his path and work in the sushi business too. Even if you don’t like sushi, you would still enjoy and appreciate this delightful documentary.
