The Queen of Versailles
Director: Lauren Greenfield
The Queen of Versailles if a documentary that started out following the Siegel family as they were building the largest house in the United States inspired by the design of the palace of Versailles but turned out to be more than just that. David Siegel is a self-made billionaire who built his success on his time-share business. Jackie, once a miss America, is his wife and the mother of his children. When the financial crisis happened, the Siegel’s took a hit like everyone else. They did not become poor by any means, but their life style changed dramatically and they have to let go of the plans to build the largest house.
This is a great documentary. Very entertaining and simple yet you don’t know what to make of the family. The story is very well documented in the movie because director Lauren Greenfield was there the whole time having a full access to the family’s daily life.
