SOUND OF MY VOICE is a small budget indie film that is co-written and starring the very talented Brit Marling, who also co-wrote and starred in ANOTHER EARTH. Without spoiling the movie, it is basically about a secrect cult leader (Bret Marling) who claims to be from the future. The film picks up from there and the story starts to unfold in different chapters numbered numerically, each focusing on a different direction of the story.

What is so great about this mixed sci-fi mystery drama is that it brings something new to this small genre. Things are “mostly” left to an open ending but in the same time there are many clues and scenes clear and hidden in film that you need to connect together to narrow down your explanation of things in the film to limited scenarios.

At the end, the truth might be different from the point of view of each viewer but whether you get things right or wrong you would still enjoy and admire the intelligence of this film. My favorite film of the year and I don’t think any film will top it for me this year. Also on my top 3 films of all time.
